74 NORTH ALLEGHENY FALL SPORTS PREVIEW
   PREVIEW
SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALL
It has been a good run for the North Allegheny slow-pitch softball team in re- cent years, including a WPISL runner-up finish last season,
a WPISL semifinal appearance in 2021 and a league title in 2020.
Six players graduated from the 2022 finalist team but the North Al- legheny coaching staff is confident with what it has coming back. Reilly Spitz will anchor the shortstop position. The coaching staff expects Spitz to provide consistency and leadership by example. Jayna Cole will
be in the outfield and is more of a vocal leader. Keala Glaser has made massive improvements each season and will be returning to play third base. She boasts a plus arm at the hot corner.
Some young players that NA is expecting to step up include the
likes of Madelyn Daugherty and Emily Sobehart, who each were not opening day starters but worked their way into the lineup come playoff time. Emily Marangoni has high expectations coming into her junior season along with Ella Mitchell. Pitcher, catcher and second base are positions that need to be filled due to graduation.
North Allegheny is hoping that their playoff experience helps them in the 2023 season. The seniors on this team were freshmen when the Tigers won the title in 2020 and have made deep playoff runs all three seasons.
