TENNIS
In 2022, the North Allegheny girls’ tennis team went undefeated in section play, returned to the WPIAL Championship match for the first time since 2018, and won a state playoff contest before bowing out in the quarterfinals.
Emily Wincko and Abbey Swirsding both graduated but Sara Fer- nandez, Rebecca Murphy, Tia Soussou and Siya Jain are all returning seniors that are all capable of stepping up and leading the team. Fernandez was the No. 1 singles player a year ago for North Allegheny, reaching the PIAA singles tournament before falling in the first round.
Audrey Zheng is a younger player to look out for. She played JV last season but was called up and traveled with the varsity team for their playoff run.
Teams to beat will be Upper St. Clair, Peters Township, Mt. Lebanon, Shady Side Academy and Fox Chapel.
