70 NORTH ALLEGHENY FALL SPORTS PREVIEW
   PREVIEW
  GIRL’S
 GOLF
The North Allegheny girls’ golf team won its second consecutive sec- tion championship in 2022 but didn’t stop there. The Lady Tigers took second place at the WPIAL Team Championships, finishing just two strokes behind Peters Township, and came in third place at the PIAA Team Championships in some tough conditions.
Katie Rose Rankin, who was the Tigers top golfer in 2022, has grad- uated. She finished in seventh place at the state individual champion- ship. Seniors Megan Manesiotis and Amber Roth are two important returnees that the Tigers will look to have big seasons this fall. Roth really came into her own at the WPIAL Team Championship, where she stepped up into a crucial role in the title match.
This will be coach Sarah Morrison’s third season as the head coach of the North Allegheny girls’ golf team and this will be the youngest team she has had since taking over. One of the younger faces that could contribute this season is Kayli Dings, who was the only freshman to compete on varsity in 2022. Dings traveled with the team to states as an alternate, which proved to be a valuable experience. Vivienne Hood was one of the top JV performers a year ago and could make a move
to become a varsity starter. There is a big freshman class coming in as well.
Seneca Valley will be North Allegheny’s biggest challenge within the section as the two teams split the season series a year ago and Seneca Valley brings back their top two golfers. It will be once again Peters Township that everyone in the WPIAL is chasing for gold.
