NORTH ALLEGHENY FALL SPORTS PREVIEW 65
PREVIEW
BOY’S
SOCCER
The 2022 season was the first under head coach Manuel Montero with the North Allegheny boys’ soccer team. It was a year of transition as the team went from an attacking approach under previous head coach Bobby Vosmaer to more of a possession style of play under Mon- tero. Many of the assistant coaches from Vosmaer’s staff stayed on with Montero making that transition a smooth one.
Looking ahead, North Allegheny will lose the services of All-WPI- AL defenseman Aidan Dyga and leading scorer Ben Christian due to graduation. While it will be tough to replace those standouts, there are some younger guys waiting in the wings for their opportunity. Danny Stevens, Nathan Katari, Arnav Patel, Luke Brady and Zach Nash are all exciting players that are looking to step up this season.
The goalkeeper situation is an interesting one for North Allegheny with great depth at the position. Senior Dante Accamando played the majority of the minutes last year and coach Montero is looking for an all-conference season out of him. Ryan Dyga and Ryan Young are also viable options in net.
North Allegheny’s defense posted seven shutouts a year ago, some- thing that coach Montero is very proud of. With a full season under their belts in a new system, the future continues to look bright for the Tigers with coach Montero entering his second year at the helm.
