In DBU’s inaugural season in the Missouri Valley Conference, the Patriots claimed the MVC Tournament Title and secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals for the second straight year. Freshman Camden Duzenack led the way for DBU in the MVC Tournament in Terre Haute, Indiana, claiming Most Outstanding Player honors after hitting .500 (9-for-18). Following their win over Illinois State in the title game, the Patriots earned the two-seed in the Ft. Worth Regional, but dropped both games to conclude their season at 40-21.
At season’s end, a pair of Patriots earned Freshman All-American honors in Camden Duzenack and David Martinelli. Duzenack also garnered National Player of the Week honors twice during his rookie season.
DBU saw three players selected in the Major League Draft, headlined by junior right-handed pitcher Cy Sneed, who went in the third round to the Milwaukee Brewers after compiling an 8-3 record and a career best 3.55 ERA. Daniel Salters (Washington Nationals) and Paul Voelker (Detroit Tigers) were also selected in the draft.
