Girls Flag Football continues to be a growing sport in the Pittsburgh area as the Steelers Girls Flag Football league continued to add teams for the 2024 season and for the first time, girls flag football was includ- ed in the Big 33 Classic.
North Allegheny also saw their Girls Flag Football program grow as for the 2024 season they were able to field a second team.
North Allegheny’s gold team dominated the regular season, as they went 10-0 with the closest game being a 12-point decision.
The Tigers dominated Sto-Rox in the first round of the playoffs but things got a little tougher from there as NA squeaked past Shaler in
the quarterfinals, defeated Upper St. Clair in a defensive battle in the semifinals, before falling to Moon again in the Championship.
The Black Team fell in their opener to Shaler before rattling off 3-straight wins over North Hills, North Catholic and Hampton. The Tigers were tripped up by Seneca Valley before defeating Seneca Valley 2 and North Hills.
North Allegheny would end the regular season with a loss to Hamp- ton and a tie with Seneca Valley to finish with a 5-3-1 record.
Individually, Allyson Ruiz and Kyra Schmidt were selected to play in the Inaugural PFSCA Big 33 HS Girls Flag Football Tournament.
