2022 WPIAL Runner-Up • 2022 PIAA Champions
It was another banner year for the North Allegheny girls’ volleyball team as the Tigers rolled to a 22-1 record and their sixth consecutive state championship. The streak of six consecutive titles for North Allegheny is the second longest in state history behind only the Norwin Knights, who won nine straight PIAA titles from 1976-1984.
North Allegheny’s first and only loss of the year came In the WPIAL Class 4A championship to Pine-Richland in a 3-2 upset. The Lady Tigers exacted revenge on the Rams in the state semifinals where they
defeated them in four sets. NA went on to beat Garnet Valley in the state championship match by set scores of 26-28, 26-24, 25-8 and 25- 12.
There were numerous postseason honors for the Lady Tigers with six players on the Big 56 all-section team, six on the All-WPIAL team and five on the All-State team. Additionally, senior setter Mia Tuman was named the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year for the second straight season.
