2022 WPIAL Champions • PIAA Playoff Appearance
The North Allegheny Tigers football team continued its “tradition of excellence” by posting an 11-2 record while going undefeated (4-0) in conference play. The Tigers started out fast in the first five contests, outscoring their opponents, 169-49, while the defense limited foes
to under 10 points per game (9.8 ppg). The Tigers ended the season strong over the final five games, including a dramatic come-from-be- hind victory over Seneca Valley in the regular season finale. NA trailed 26-14 in the second half and rallied for a 27-26 triumph, locking up the No. 1 seed in the WPIAL Class 6A playoffs.
In the postseason, North Allegheny battled with Canon-McMillan in a torrential downpour and claimed a 7-0 victory. That game set up a date with Central Catholic in the 2022 WPIAL 6A Championship. North Allegheny defeated PCC in a defensive struggle, 7-3, in week four. The rematch in the 6A WPIAL Championship Game was a bit
different. The Tigers beat the Vikings 35-21 to secure their first WPIAL Championship in 10 years. In the state playoffs, the Tigers fell to a fierce State College Lions team, 28-7, in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Playoffs.
