 BOY’S
WATER POLO
A 9-6 win over eventual NCS Division 2 quarterfinalist Cardinal Newman in the
title game of the Vintage Valley Tourney, and a thrilling 11-10 regular season victory over Liberty were the top highlights in the 2023 varsity boys water polo season. Heritage finished the season
with a 16-9 overall mark, including an unbeaten mark during the regular season BVAL schedule, and showed its tenacity with five
one-goal victories. Other top victories during the season included beating a 20-win Downey-Modesto team in the Gold Division title game at the DeLong Invitational, and also taking down an 18-win Cas- tro Valley team.
Junior Tony Trapanese posted one of the top seasons in program history, scoring 67 goals, moving him into the top 10 single-season list for goals scored. Evan McCallum also moved into the top 10 for assists in a single season, with 39. Aidan Duttera had a team-high 46 steals while junior Ryan Ackerman and sophomore Aidan Muse combined to register 216 saves in goal.
