WATER POLO
The 2023 girls water polo season was highlighted by a six-game winning streak early in the season, one which included an unbeaten run at the Sierra Shootout, defeating Sierra-Manteca in the title game, 8-4. That win streak started with a thrilling one-goal victory over Castro Valley, 7-6, defeating a Trojans’ team which would win 19 games.
Top results later in the season included a sweep of Livermore and a one-goal victory over Harbor-Santa Cruz. Senior Samantha Chao led the way with
51 goals for the season, including 12 goals during the Sierra Shootout. Fellow senior Madeline Guo added 25 goals and 16 assists, while Sophia Cadero posted a team-high 21 assists for the year. The Patriots also went 3-1 in league play, falling only to eventual BVAL champion Liberty.
