BOY’S
TENNIS
For the 10th straight season, and extending a stretch to now encom- pass 100 consecutive matches in league play, the Heritage boys tennis team turned back all BVAL opponents in dominant fashion to capture the league title and advance to the section playoffs.
The strength of the Patriots’ lineup was on full display in the league tournament, when five of the eight players to reach the quarterfinals
in the singles draw were from Heritage. Senior Conrad Faulkner ended up with the highest placement of any Patriot, defeating teammate Ahaz Kassaye in the BVAL singles third-place match. The Patriots were even more dominant in the doubles tournament, as Gabriel Schmidt and Samuel Kim won the BVAL title, defeating teammates Rojan Habon and Neil Trehan in the championship match.
Heritage saw success in the post-season as well in the 2024 campaign, as Schmidt and Kim won their first-round doubles match at the NCS Division 1 Tennis Championships, while Faulkner picked up a win during singles play in the team playoffs against Redwood, marking the first line victory in an NCS team tennis match for the Patriots since 2019.
During the regular season, freshman Arnav Yashlaha was another bright spot for Heritage, as he defeated eventual BVAL singles run- ner-up Enzo Dinelli of Freedom twice during league play. As a team, the Patriots dropped just two lines all season in league play, compiling an overall match record of 88-2 against BVAL opponents.
