GOLF
Despite reaching the North Coast Section Division 1 Champi- onships in each of the previous two seasons, there had been something missing for the Heritage boys golf team. The Patriots got rid of that empty feeling this spring, turning the tables on rival Liberty to once again claim the Bay Valley Athletic League title.
The previous season, Heritage had won the first meeting between the teams on a sixth-golfer tiebreak before the Lions won the second meeting and finished ahead of the Patriots at the league tournament. In 2024, that sequence got reversed, as Liberty won the first meeting on a sixth-golfer tiebreak before Heritage posted a 15-stroke victory in the second meeting and then shot 406 at the BVAL Tournament to defeat the Lions by 10 strokes and claim the outright title for the seventh time in program history.
In addition to winning the league title, Heritage also posted a third-place team finish at the Gambetta Invitational and played well at the Spring Classic at Monarch Bay and at Copper Valley, among other tournaments during the regular season.
