An Austin Listi home run in the sixth inning tied the game, but the Red Raiders responded with two runs of their own in the sixth and went on to hand DBU a 5-3 loss in the finals of the Lubbock Regional.
Following the 2016 season, Dan Heefner was named the MVC Dan Callahan Coach of the Year. Darick Hall, Colin
Poche, and Jameson Hannah also earned top accolades in The Valley. Hall was tabbed the Joe Carter Player of the Year and the Newcomer of the Year in the MVC, while Poche was named the league’s Pitcher of the Year, and Hannah garnered Co-Freshman of the Year honors.
Five Patriots were taken in the Major League Draft, including David Martinelli, who headlined the Patriots’ draft class as a sixth round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies.
DBU celebrated both the MVC regular-season and tournament titles in 2016.
