2019 LUBBOCK REGIONAL FINALISTS
Following their second MVC regular-season title, DBU earned the #2 seed in the Lubbock Regional, facing a field that included #6 Texas Tech, Florida, and Army. The Patriots were able to eliminate the Gators, defeating Florida in each of their two games, but dropped a 3-2 decision to Texas Tech in the winner’s bracket and a 3-0 affair to the Red Raiders in the finals to finish off the 2019 season.
Bryce Ball and MD Johnson were each named All-
Americans at season’s end. Ball led the team in home runs (18), while Johnson became the program’s all- time leader in wins (29). Jordan Martinson also set the school-record for strikeouts (276).
In the summer of 2019, left-handed reliever Burl Carraway became the first player in school history to earn a spot on the U.S. Collegiate National Team. During his time with Team USA, Carraway did not surrender a run in five appearances versus four international teams.
Bryce Ball was a two-time National Player of the Week in 2019 and his 18 home runs on the season were the most in the MVC.
