provided more late-inning heroics when an Andrew Benefield grand slam in the seventh inning gave DBU a 6-5 lead and propelled the Patriots to their second-ever regional title.
The 2021 Patriots featured the MVC Joe Carter Player of the Year and All-American Jackson Glenn who hit a team-best .366 and his 21 home runs were fourth- most in the nation. On the mound, Dominic Hamel earned All-American honors after setting single-season school records in both wins (13) and strikeouts (136).
Jace Grady was also tabbed a Freshman All-American and was named the Most Valuable Player of the MVC Tournament after hitting .500 during the Patriots’ run to the title.
Following the 2021 season, five players from DBU were selected in the Major League Draft including a pair in the top five rounds in Dominic Hamel (3rd round - New York Mets) and Jackson Glenn (5th round - Pittsburgh Pirates).
DBU celebrated their second regional title after an 8-5 win over Oregon State in the Fort Worth Regional Championship.
