 GRADUATE ASSISTANTS & TRAINING STAFF
   EDGAR “ALAN” ALANIS ENTERS HIS FIRST SEASON AS A GRADUATE ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE DBU MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM. Most recently, Alan served as an assistant coach to the Schreiner University Men’s Basketball program in Kerrville, Tx. Prior to that, Alan spent a season with Southeastern Illinois Men’s Basketball team in Harrisburg, Illinois. Alan has also served as a Basketball Operations Assistant for the NBA G-League Team Rio Grande Valley Vipers, affiliate of the Houston Rockets for the 2018-2019 season.
Alan’s responsibilities as an assistant coach at the college level has consisted of leading individual and group workouts, basketball operations, reviewing and editing film, scouting opponents, recruiting players, and academic supervision.
While at Schreiner University, Alan helped develop Second-Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention players in the SCAC and assisted the team in achieving an overall 3.0 GPA average.
During his time with the RGV Vipers, Alan worked under the guidance of Joseph Blair, current assistant coach for the NBA’s Washington Wizards. He assisted with video coordination, creation of personnel, player development, scouting and tracking player minutes. That season, the RGV Vipers won the NBA G League Championship. Alan assisted with the development of the Most Improved Player of the Year Mike Frazier and NBA G-League Finals MVP Isaiah Hartenstein, and multiple NBA players including Bruno Caboclo, Daniel House, Chris Chiozza, Gary Payton, and Gary Clark.
During the past two Summers Alan assisted NBA Trainer Tim Springer in workouts with pros such as CJ Miles, Keldon Johnson, Aric Holman, Simi Shittu, and Kaleb Johnson.
Alan had a short stint at Bethany College playing point guard in the 2006-07 season. After graduating with his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Texas College, Alan coached high school boys’ basketball for seven years with two years as a varsity head coach.
A native of Brownsville, Texas, Alan completed his Master of Science in Recreation and Sports Sciences from Ohio University in 2018 and is currently pursuing a second master’s degree of Arts in Leadership. He currently lives in Fort Worth with his wife Alejandra and his three children Gael, Arianni and Leo.

ISAIAH PACE ENTERS HIS FIRST SEASON AS A VOLUNTEER ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE DBU BASKETBALL TEAM. PACE TO COMES TO DBU AFTER SERVING AS INTERIM ASSISTANT AD FOR INTERNAL OPERATIONS AT HUSTON-TILLOTSON UNIVERSITY. Prior to that, Pace was the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Emmaus Bible College.
Prior to Emmaus, Pace worked with the NBA Orlando Magic organization in various roles as a Skill Development Coach and Jr. NBA League Director. During his time there
he worked alongside Magic team Hall of Fame players Nick Anderson and Bo Outlaw teaching skill development with the Magic Basketball Academy to middle and high school student-athletes from China, Spain, and the U.S.
Before his time with the Magic, Pace worked as the Athletic Director and Head Boys’ Basketball Coach for Holy Redeemer Catholic School where he managed 10 sports and won the school’s first ever boys’ basketball championship, going 19-0 during the season.
Pace also traveled the country during the summer months as a camp coach and evaluator for Scouts Focus. There he co-led the camp activities with former NCAA Division 1 and Ireland National Men’ Olympic team head coach Pete Strickland.
A residential native of St. Augustine, Florida, Pace earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Central Florida in Sport & Exercise Science with a minor in Education.

  ROBERT “TRE” WALTON ENTERS HIS SECOND YEAR AS A GRADUATE ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE DBU MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM. In his first season with the Patriots posted a 17-5 record and advanced to the NCAA South Central Regional Semifinals. Prior to joining the Patriots, Tre spent four years as an assistant coach at John Jay College in New York City.
While at John Jay College, Walton spent his first two seasons as an assistant coach handling primarily player development, film, and scouting reports. Prior to the start
of the 2018-19 season, Walton took over as the team’s recruiting coordinator for the Bloodhounds. He handled all nationwide recruiting efforts including two First-Team All CUNYAC players, and the 2020 CUNYAC Player of the Year. He has recruited players from New York City, New Jersey, Florida, and upstate New York.
Walton’s final season at John Jay ties the best regular season record for the Bloodhounds. The team finished with a 20-5 record and 13-1 conference record. The team also made the ECAC DIII Men’s Basketball Championship tournament for the second consecutive year.
Walton earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from St. John’s University and is currently pursuing a Master’s in Leadership.
NICK GILMORE ENTERS HIS SECOND YEAR AS A GRADUATE ASSISTANT COACH FOR DBU ATHLETIC PERFORMANCE. Gilmore serves as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Performance Coach for Men’s Track, Men’s Tennis, Men’s Golf, and Men’s Lacrosse.
Nick’s passion for Strength and Conditioning started as a Performance Intern at Michael Johnson Performance in May of 2019. There he gained experience with several elite NFL, NBA, MLB and Olympic athletes. Nick continued gaining experience as an intern in the
Athletic Performance department at Dallas Baptist University during the fall of 2019 and the spring of 2018, working closely with the Women’s Golf, Volleyball, Women’s Soccer and Baseball teams. Gilmore was also able to be the lead Athletic Performance coach at T Bar M Racquet Club in 2020. His job there was to design and implement strength and conditioning programs for the entire tennis academy of over 50 athletes.
Gilmore played tennis at Southwest Baptist University and DBU for his entire four years of his undergraduate career. He graduated from DBU with a Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology. Nick is distinguished by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
