2022-2023 Western PA Runner-Up, 2022-2023 PA Top 5 Finisher
The 2022-2023 season was not only a monumental year
for the North Allegheny girls’ wrestling team, but girls wres- tling as a whole as the sport was sanctioned by the PIAA for the 2023-2024 season and beyond.
The Lady Tigers really hit their stride midway through
the season when they won the Lady Raiders Wrestling Invitational and then their next four dual meets. The Lady Tigers came in second place at the Western PA Championships, third place in the Pennsylvania Re- gional Tournament and then ended the season with a fifth place finish at the Pennsylvania State Championships.
Individually, North Allegheny crowned its first ever state champion in the sport of Girls Wrestling when junior Leyna Rumpler went 4-0 at the state tournament with all four victories coming by fall.
