BOY’S
BASKETBALL
The 2022-2023 boys basket- ball season saw a young North Allegheny team battle injuries and come together to build chemistry coming into the 2023-2024 season. The Tigers failed to make the postseason but showed glimpses of a bright future during the campaign.
Following a slow start with four consecutive losses, the Tigers bounced back by winning four of five
games, including a victory over District 10 Champion, Erie City, and WPIAL 1A and state champion, Imani Christian.
North Allegheny swept rival Pine-Richland including a triple overtime thriller in the second contest and also defeated WPIAL 6A champion Central Catholic handily at home, 62-46. The Tigers played close with eventual WPIAL 5A champion, Penn Hills, before the Indi- ans pulled away for a 59-53 win.
The Tigers had three players make the Big 56 All-Section team, including Ty Iwanonkiw who was named to the first team.
