SWIM & DIVE
With a slew of qualifiers to the North Coast Section Championships, the Heritage swim and dive team once again put forth a successful season in the pool, one that was also capped by the 12th league title in program history for the Patriot girls.
The Heritage girls were able to claim the league team title with the aid of six event titles at the league championships. In addition to the quartet
of Maddie Guo, Natalia Avalos Paz, Paige Weideman and Megan Ogden winning the 200 medley relay, Avalos Paz also captured the 200 and 500 freestyle events, Ogden won the 50 and 100 freestyle events, and Guo captured the 200 individual medley. Avalos Paz was also named Most Valuable Swimmer for the BVAL girls.
While the Patriot boys finished as runner-up for the league team title, they actually won more events at the league championships, claiming nine event titles. Heritage swept all three boys relays, and was paced by double event winners Nicholas Cadero and Nicholas Woolery. Cadero captured the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke, while Woolery won both the 200 and 500 freestyle. Zach Lengyel won the 200 individual medley, while Isaiah Warner captured the 100 butterfly. Cadero was named Most Valuable Swimmer for the BVAL boys, also swimming on two winning relays.
