    JOHNSON BECOMES DBU’S ALL-TIME STRIKEOUT LEADER
Ryan Johnson made history during the 2024 season, setting both the single-season and all-time strikeout records in DBU Baseball history. The Patriots’ Friday night ace etched his name in the record books on April 26 against FIU in Miami, Florida, surpassing the program’s career strikeout record. With that performance, Johnson became the first pitcher in school history to reach the 300-strikeout milestone, ultimately finishing his remarkable three-year career with 314 total strikeouts. His dominance continued as he also set the single-season strikeout record on May 10 against Liberty, wrapping up the season with an impressive 151 strikeouts.
DBU WINS CONFERENCE USA TOURNAMENT
DBU won their first-ever Conference USA Tournament in just their second season in the league after winning all four games at the CUSA Championships in Ruston, Louisiana. The Patriots dominated their side of the bracket, securing victories over New

DBU continued its postseason excellence in 2024, earning a spot in the NCAA Tournament for the 10th consecutive year—joining an elite group of just five teams nationwide, alongside Florida, LSU, Oklahoma State, and Vanderbilt. As the No. 2 seed at the Tucson Regional, the Patriots faced an early setback, dropping their first game to No. 3 seed West Virginia. Undeterred, DBU bounced back in dominant fashion, shutting out top-seeded Arizona 7-0 to keep their tournament hopes alive. However, the Patriots’ remarkable run came to an end in a 12-10 slugfest in an elimination game against Grand Canyon, capping off their 2024 season with a 45-15 record. Following the regional, Chayton Krauss and Tom Poole earned well-deserved spots on the Tucson All-Regional Team. Krauss led the team with a sizzling .462 average, while Poole hit .429 with three home runs and drove in a a tournament-high 10 RBI.
Mexico State, FIU, and WKU before clinching the championship with a thrilling 17-10 win over Louisiana Tech. Alex Pendergast was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player of the tournament after hitting .562 with two doubles, a home run, four RBI, and four stolen bases. In addition to Pendergast’s standout effort, Michael Dattalo, Jerrod Jenkins, Ethan Mann, and Miguel Santos earned spots on the CUSA All-Tournament Team, each playing a key role in propelling the Patriots to the 2024 CUSA Tournament title.
