Looking Back at NCAA Champions

As the 2017-2018 college sports season is over, it's time to look back at the past and present NCAA champions. 

Stanford, yet again, this year is recognized as the leading NCAA athletic program for both men's and women's sports championships. The Division I program has the most-ever team titles in NCAA Championship History with 117 total, not to mention an additional 514 individual titles. The Cardinal women's swimming and diving program has earned 173 individual titles, while men's swimming and diving has added 148 of their own. Stanford also has very strong men's and women's tennis programs, owning 19 team titles for the women and 17 for the men. 

UCLA is just behind Stanford in total championship titls in NCAA history with 116.  The Bruins men's volleyball team has earned 19 NCAA champinships, while the men's tennis program has been crowned national champs 16 times.  A total of 273 UCLA athletes have received individual national titles.

Rounding out the top 10 after Stanford and UCLA are Southern California (106), Oklahoma St. (52), Penn St. (50), Texas (46), Arkansas (44), LSU (43), North Carolina (43), California (37).

Oklahoma State Wrestling leads all programs with 34 total NCAA championships, followed by Southern Cal Men's Outdoor Track and Field with 26, Denver University Skiing with 24 and University of Iowa Wrestling with 23.

Just behind Stanford Women's Swimming and Diving 173 individual NCAA titles are University of Michigan Men's Swimming and Diving with 165, Stanford Men's Swimming and Diving  with 148, Oklahoma State Wrestling with 142 and University of Texas Men's Swimming and Diving with 137.

Abilene Christian University leads all NCAA Division II program with total championships with 57, followed by Saint Augustine’s with 39, Adams State with 36, and Cal Poly with 35.

Kenyon is number one among Division III program with 60 NCAA titles, followed by Wisconsin-La Crosse with 43, TCNJ with 39, Williams College with 36, and Middlebury with 33.
