ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
For the sixth consecutive year, the DBU Men’s Basketball team has been awarded the Team Academic Excellence Award from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). Created by the NABC Committee on Academics, the award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2020-21 season.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s student-athletes who competed during the 2020- 21 season.
With this year’s announcement, it marks the seventh time in the last nine years that DBU has been awarded by the NABC.
“I am excited to once again receive this prestigious award,” DBU Head Basketball Coach Blake Flickner said. “I am proud of the hard work of all our student athletes, and the priority they have placed on their academics. It’s so easy to get caught up in the challenges of basketball competition and lose sight of the bigger picture. This shows a commitment not only to athletic achievement, but academic excellence as well.”
