Coach Gill named to the Long Island Metropolitan Hall of Fame

Mariners head coach Tom Gill added another honor to his illustrious lacrosse coaching career when he was selected to the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Gill will be formally inducted into the Hall on January 27.

Tom Gill is entering his 28th season as the head coach of the USMMA lacrosse program. Since his first year in 1991, he has led the program to seven conference championships, eight ECAC Metro NY/NJ Championship appearances, six consecutive Maritime Tournament crowns between 1994 and 1999 and an appearance in the 2007 NCAA Tournament. The Academy has also named him the recipient of the Coach Omeltchenko Coach-of-the-Year Award in 1998, 2007 and 2017. Gill has guided the Mariners to a record of 190-180 (.514), while his overall NCAA coaching ledger stands at 235-213 (.525).

Coach Gill has a very high involvement in the sport on all fronts. He serves on various championship and governing bodies in the college game. He is on the board of the NCAA Division-III Lacrosse Championship, All-America Selection and Regional Advisory Committees. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Long Island Metropolitan Lacrosse Foundation, the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Rules Committee and the ECAC Board of the USILA.
