ROWING
The North Allegheny Rowing team began their spring season at the Huron River Sprints in Kensington, Michigan. Both the boys and girls had top 10 finishes as the girls finished in 3rd place overall and the boys finished in 7th.
It was back home for the Pittsburgh Scholastic Sprints where the Tigers dominated the competition picking up 10 first place finishes, eight second place finishes and two third places finishes. In Boys Jr. 4x, the Tigers took the top three spots.
It was back to Kensington for the Midwest Scholastic Championship where the Tigers sent 12 of their 15 entries into the finals. The girls varsity 4x finished in 3rd place. The girls 2x of Kathy Zema and Alex Witzel took home a second place finish. The boys had success as well as they had two 4x teams in the final with one of them coming in second place. North Allegheny advanced two boats at the Historic Stotesbury Cup.
The Tigers had 2 boats go to the Scholastic Nationals in Pennsauken, NJ in June. In those races the Tigers were seeded 11th and 12th.
On the girls side, was Alexandra Witzel, Kathy Zema, Sawyer Wright and Lorelei Schrieber. They placed 4th in Heat 1, narrowly missing a spot in the finals as they took the top 2.
On the boys side, it was Miles Rees, Carson Carona, Anthony Bertucci and Layton Wright competing at the finals. They placed 5th in their opening heat. Unfortunately for them, the top 3 in each heat made the semifinals.
