TRACK & FIELD
2023 Boys & Girls WPIAL Champions, 2023 Girls PIAA 7th Place Finishers
In the year 2023, the North Allegheny Boys Track & Field team won their league leading 14th WPIAL Championship and first since 2019 while the North Allegheny Girls Track & Field team won their second consecutive WPIAL champion- ship and 13th overall.
The boys team got off to a solid start winning a tri-meet with Shaler and North Hills before get-
ting tripped up by Butler. After the Butler loss, North Allegheny would win every team event they were in until the PIAA Finals including against Butler again in the WPIAL Team Finals. This included wins in the Lady Spartan/Wildcat Invitational and Butler Invitational.
The girls team won their first three meets before a runner-up finish at the Lady Spartan/Wildcat Invitational. The Tigers would go on to beat Seneca Valley, win the Butler Invitational and roll in the playoffs to back-to-back WPIAL titles. The girls team put up a great showing in the PIAA Finals coming in seventh place.
At the WPIAL Individual Championships, Isabella Costa won the 400m, the North Allegheny 4x400m relay team took home gold, Alaina Fantaski won gold in the javelin throw and Owen Curran on the boys side won the 110m Hurdles.
At the PIAA Finals, Alaina Fantaski won silver in the Javelin Throw and shattered the North Allegheny record by nine feet. Robin Kucler also set a school record in the 3200m. Kucler’s time of 10:21.38 broke Clara Savchik’s former school-record time of 10:21.65 set in 2017.
