GRADUATE ASSISTANTS & TRAINING STAFF
David Trevino is serving his ninth year as Director of Athletic Performance for Dallas Baptist University. Coach Trevino oversees a team of 5 athletic performance coaches on staff, the 5,000 square foot Athletic Training Center, as well as the general physical preparation for all 12 of DBU’s Lone Star Conference sports teams and 4 club sports teams.
Coach Trevino works directly with the Basketball, Women’s Soccer, Volleyball and Cheer/STUNT programs. He takes pride in having positive relationships with his athletes and coaches. And understands that working together while navigating the process
of pursuing sport mastery is where success is found.
Prior to joining DBU, Dave served as the assistant director for the University of North Texas Strength and Conditioning Department (2011-2016). During his tenure with UNT he coached, designed and implemented athletic performance programs for football, softball, soccer, men’s & women’s track and field, men’s & women’s cross country and the swimming and diving team. Coach Trevino also served as the department’s Mentorship Coordinator and as a Kinesiology adjunct instructor. His experience and oversight have proven influential in strengthening the department’s internship program and his crossover into academia assisted in developing close relationships with the University’s Kinesiology and Psychology Departments.
Dave completed his Master of Science degree in Kinesiology at Texas A&M from August 2007 through December 2009. During his stint with the Aggies, he committed a great deal of time as a graduate student intern with the strength and conditioning department.
Coach Trevino first called Denton home when he began his undergraduate degree at UNT in 2003. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the University of North Texas in 2007.
Coach Trevino calls Midlothian home and lives there with his wife, Brittiny and their two children Jesse and Josie. David and Brittiny are members at Stonegate Church in Midlothian.

Caleb Young is in his second season as Graduate Assistant Coach for DBU Men’s Basketball. Young came to the Patriots from Hardin-Simmons University, where he served as Assistant Coach for two seasons.
At Hardin-Simmons, Young served as a Student Assistant Coach for Men’s Basketball for three seasons before being promoted into the full-time
Assistant role before his senior year. During the 2020-21 season, Young was named the TABC Small College Student Assistant of the Year after being nominated by his Head Coach Matt Brackett. During his five-year tenure, Young assisted in all assets of the program, with his primary responsibilities being recruiting, scouting reports, and community service coordination. Young was part of two conference tournament finalist teams at HSU, qualifying for the ASC tournament all five seasons.
Young earned his Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, Fitness and Recreation and is pursuing a Master’s in Sports Management. Young is a Dallas native, born and raised in DeSoto.
Graduate Assistant Coach Caleb Young
Parris Massey is entering his first season as a Graduate Assistant Coach for the DBU Men’s Basketball program. Massey joins the program after serving as a Sergeant for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department in Boston, Massachusetts, for six years. Before this, Massey worked as a Social Worker, first in Nampa, Idaho, for a year and later in Boston for four years.
Massey graduated from the University of Massachusetts- Lowell in 2014, earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology and writing while playing basketball for head coach Greg Herenda from the 2011-12 season to the 2012-13 season before playing for head coach Pat Duquette for the 2013-14 season. Massey prided himself on his impact on defense during his playing career, leading the UMass-Lowell Riverhawks in blocks for two of his three seasons at the University and being one of the top shot blockers in the America East Conference during the 2013-14 season. Before his time at UMass-Lowell, Massey was a member of Sacred Heart University’s basketball team, where he had been red-shirted due to an injury.
A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Massey was a standout three-sport athlete in high school, participating in basketball, football, and track & field, all under coach Barry Robinson at The Boston English High School. Massey also played AAU basketball for head coach Pete Washington in the YABC basketball system.
Massey is pursuing a Master’s in Sports Management at Dallas Baptist University.
Graduate Assistant Coach Parris Massey
Jackson McQueen is in his third year at Dallas Baptist University and serves as an Assistant Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Basketball and Men’s Golf teams. This is Jackson’s first year as a full-time athletic trainer after completing his graduate assistantship at DBU, where he served both men’s soccer and men’s lacrosse for the past two years.
Jackson graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training. While at GCU, Jackson served as an Athletic Training Student at two Phoenix area high schools, USL Championship side Phoenix Rising, multiple MLB
Spring Training camps, and the Lopes’ Men’s Soccer and Basketball teams. In 2024, he completed his Master of Arts in Educational Ministry Leadership from DBU. While studying for his Master’s Degree, Jackson completed a Graduate Assistantship as an Athletic Trainer with DBU’s Men’s Soccer and Lacrosse teams.
Jackson is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and has previously attended the Arizona Athletic Training Association Winter Symposium and the Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainer’s Association Clinical Symposium.
Jackson currently lives in Duncanville and attends Watermark Community Church in Dallas, Texas. In his free time, Jackson enjoys fishing and spending time around a table with friends.
