COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
ONE KEY ELEMENT OF THE DBU MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM IS THE WORK THEY DO WITHIN THE COMMUNITY.
Built on the principles of “Servant Leadership,” the DBU Athletics program seeks to serve the needs of others and share the love of Christ through service opportunities.
Through the years, the DBU Men’s Basketball team has helped to meet the needs of the Dallas community through their work at various organizations such as Brother Bill’s Helping Hand, Buckner International, Clay Academy, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Goodwill Industries, HEB’s Feast of Sharing, and the North Texas Food Bank.
“It has been a real blessing for our team to be involved with various opportunities within our Dallas community to serve. Whether it’s reading books with elementary school kids, or feeding the homeless, it is a great chance for us to give back and to practice serving. Our desire is for our student-athletes to leave here with a heart for other people. It is awesome to be used by God to be a blessing to others, and we gain so much from the experience as well.” – DBU head basketball coach Blake Flickner.
