August 2018

The Fall 2018 KCD Football season is just around the corner, and we have had a terrific summer of conditioning and practices  We have exciting news to share about our helmets for the 2018 season – EVERY helmet worn by EVERY player in the KCD Football program, from fifth grade to Seniors, is brand-new and on the forefront of safety.  The KCD Varsity Football team will be wearing the state-of-the-art, top rated VICISZero1 football helmets, thanks to generous donations by several KCD Football boosters.  The VICISZero 1 helmets are the top safety rated helmets on the market and KCD now is the only high school in Kentucky to outfit our entire Varsity squad with these top-rated helmets.  (You can read more about what makes the VICIS helmets so special in a recent article on Athletic Management's SportsPurchasing.com website, and here's a link to recent helmet rankings.)

And our Middle School players also will be wearing 36 new Riddell Speed Flex Youth helmets, to go along with 12 brand-new Schutt Vengeance A3s (VICIS does not make helmets for youth players).  These brand-new helmets are just part of the many elements of KCD’s innovative safety program to ensure our players are as safe as possible in practices and games.   Find out more about three additional steps KCD Football follows to ensure the safety of our players by reading the "Safety Zone" article below.

See you at the Mo on August 17!  IT’S GO TIME.
